Burried under an avalanch of snow.....Now THAT sounds like a VERY BAD ending to a day hike. How does one determine the potetial for an avalanche before and durring a hike. Is it something a hiker estimates by watching recent weather conditions and knowing the terain or something the governing forest rangers-weather service keeps tabs on and could tell me if I asked.
