Wow. It IS a rotor blade. At least part of it.
This pic is exactly what I saw by the spring near Mineshaft Flat.

I guess the trailing edge missing would be why I was second guessing myself on the airfoil aspect of the object. It also just seemed too narrow to be that...but, if it's missing a fair portion of itself in terms of the trailing edge, it makes sense to me.
Whoever Joe Idoni is, he did a great job of documenting the C-47 Crash in a photo format on his photo site...
