There was a chopper sent to remove some of the debris from the DC-3 crash high on the east flank of SG. Apparently, the chopper crashed too from what I've read. You may have found a piece.

: I didn't get a picture of it, but saw
: a huge length of aluminum (i think)
: by the spring between Mineshaft Flat
: and Big Tree last week.
:
: Anyone know what this is from?
:
: It's a length about 20-30 feet long
: it seems, is flat on one side, and
: curves at the other end, sort of
: like a gothic cathedral window
: maybe? It's hollow with support
: inside to maintain the shape, and I
: think it had some yellow stripes
: painted on it near the ends.
:
: My first thought upon seeing it was
: that maybe it was a helicopter
: blade, but it's not quite the right
: airfoil shape. I suppose it could
: be the leading edge of some type of
: wing, but the curve seemed a little
: odd.
:
: Looked like it's tumbled around as
: it was pretty bent up, but was still
: easy enough to move it in its
: resting place.
:
: Would love to know what it was I
: stumbled upon out there.
