I remember the Riviera's; nice, smooth 4-piece band, great vocals and a hot guitar player.

I can't place the Sierra's unless they were one of the "original" rock bands in Rapid. Seems like I remember going to a talent show at Central High School when I was about 13, and the Sierra's were playing Harlem Nocturne. That would have been around 1962 or so?
