The Lake Preston Chamber of Commerce in the late 50's and early 60's would have a Winter Trade Show in the high school gym. The lumber yard in town would supply 1x6' boards and local carpenters would build booth spaces in the gym. I was in 8th grade and remember Lyal's Music Store as a booth and the sounds of a Hammond Organ filling the whole gym atmosphere. It was Lyal playing the organ. Lyal, qoted by his son said, that if you are going to sell musical instruments, you need to know how to play instruments! I took accordian lessons and guitar lessons from Lyal.
Lyal also could play keyboard and steel guitar. It was all a great marketing mix to sell musical instruments.
