Today, just adjacent to the original site of the Stony Point Pavilion and Roller Skating place sits a small bar called "The Prop". It is located on the South shore of Lake Kampeska and still operated by members of the Williams family who have owned all of the facilities there back into the dark ages.
If one visits the Prop today, one will find photos of what was there in its glory days. In 1965 we used to drive up from Brookings for an occasional boxing lesson. My friend and later neighbor in Rapid City was Bob Williams, now desceased. Bob was a Tackle for SDSU and Bouncer for his folks at the Stony Point Dance Hall. Bob told stories of his family growing onions on the South side of the lake where the golf course is now. Also, they cut out a strip of ice on the lake and seined for fish with a big net.
