The future of the working dog

Honestly, I think there is too much discussion on this drive and that drive. Prey, defense, and etc.
I honestly think the best training for PP work comes from simply asking the dog "do you want to fight or not? And, if the dog says yes, then I let it win...and over time, I simple ask..."are you sure" by raising the bar little by little each time we go out...being careful to read the dog and not to go beyond what it is ready for.
For, in all honesty, I can't say that on the training field I get my best training by "developing" defense or prey...because instead I get my best results by simply "fighting" the dog and teaching it to win.
I think "drive" training/developing is more appropriate for working with dogs in prey and without conflict...for SOME sports...but I am not so sure it is the best method for PP work. This is why I like civil aggitation and "defense of prey" (aka the "prey-guard") on a back tie.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this matter.
