Is your pup a pure dane, a pure EM, or a combination of the two together?
The dane can have great drives and endurance, but one of the problems with them is the tend to lack nerves.
The EM is all over the place...from junk...to incredible. It depends on the dog.
A hybrid of these two can go from a nerve bag spook to a TRUE ANTI-DECOY dog capable of what very few dogs are capable of (that is if you get a good one). What I mean by "ANTI-DECOY DOG" is a dog that actually intimidates even an experienced decoy. I hope your female (if she is a cross of the two is exactly that.
Right now we have a female that is composed of 50%EM, 25% Great Dane, and 25% APBT here on the yard for breeding. This female came out of a breeding we did almost 4 years ago between an APBT x Great Dane stud (Black Jack) bred to our EM female Eclipse. This girls name is Georgia, and she is one of the nicer ones IMO that came out of that combo. Johnny has seen her work with Butch Cappel I believe at one of our seminars. She is a big black female. I will take some photos of her while she is here if you like. They are studding her to our male Linebaugh.
We kept a sister of Georgia but our girl didn't turn out as nice as Georgia did. Our girl was named "Crazy Jane." CJ was one of the most impressive athletes we had ever owned...and most people won't believe it being she was 50% mastiff, 25% GD, and only 25% APBT...but that dog could run ALL FRICKING DAY and do so with SPEED. I honestly would not have been surprised if she would have been capable of running 100 miles in a single day...and if one thinks about it...it really isn't surprising. The Great Dane was founded from sight hound and was bred to run even if that trait has been lost. The APBT and GD influenced dominated in Crazy Jane...and she was as hard as a rock...and just as naturally fit as even the best of APBT...but we removed CJ from our program because she lacked in the nerve department. Georgia is a considerably bigger dog than our CJ was...and very athletic as well, but not as tight as CJ was; however, Georgia has very good nerves and works excellent. Georgia is a great PP dog...and if the breeding is successful between her and Linebaugh we will be keeping a female pup out of her and Linebaugh.
P.S. I would like to see some photos of your dog.
