I want everyone to understand that I am a minority, my parents came to America from India over 40 years ago, and they came legally. They paid all the fees that they needed, and both took the citizens test years ago. This is why the immigration issue hits a sore spot with me. My parents came here and paid there dues and it was not easy. They also acclimated themselves to their new nation. Both my parents spoke fluent english and wrote the language as well. Both were successful in the U.S. and in turn ensured that my brother and I were raised as loyal Americans. I speak fluent english and have no accent, I do know and speak Hindi fluently but it is not my preferred language of choice. My dad always told me "to remember where you are from but know where you are now." Immigrants should come to this country to want to be a part of it and become an American. For God's sake we except and assimilate many other countries cultures into our own, so we should expect the same of every immigrant. What is more American than Chinese Food, Pizza and a Taco!!!! Many spin this issue to make our nation look closed minded, but no other country is facing an immigration issue like ours is. Come and be a part of the greatest nation on earth and enjoy and give back!!!!
