The future of the working dog

I know some people don't like to use straight Ivermec or other generic ivermectin only based wormers, but it is cheaper...and it is the same ingredient (ivermectin) for heartworm treatment that is used in heartguard. Heartguard however has pyrantel pamoate in it also used to treat roundworms. For that...you can get pyrantel pamoate at a feed store in its pure form as well to use for pups or nursing b###hes (which works very well IF USED PROPERLY..I have skipped a few wormings before and seen worms pop back up, but when I do my part and use it regularly it works very well and has tested negative on the dogs and pups). Then there is also fenbendazole (panacur) that is available in a pure form which you can use to treat roundworms, whips, hooks, and even some forms of tapes (if given 3-5 days in a row). I have given panacur for 2 days and seen worms pass both the first and second day...but one should follow through with the treatment to prevent resistent worms from breeding back and creating dewormer resistent strains. All these wormers can be obtained for a fraction of the cost of the heartguard. If used regularly and properly, my vet confirms they work equally as well, as they contain the same ingredients and we don't have to worry if the drug isn't properly added (as long as WE use it like we are supposed to).
