Depends on what kind of dogs you have. If you have some high drive bulldogs then chain link will not hold them. They will use it as dental floss unless you reinforce it with hog panels. I did not know tractor supply sold any 8 X 8 kennels. But yes i would defintley use a wooden deck or platform. You can also build your own 8 X 8 kennel with the hog panels from tractor supply. They come in 16 foot sections, but they will cut them any length you want them. They are probably your cheapest bet and will be stronger than any chaink link setup.
