Aron,
As Mikey sez, let's "do the math"!! OK w/o a sponsor we look at costs. Never mind driving a rig to the track & the cost of the equipment itself, the fuel, ins, permits, truck driver, all the springs & extra equipment in the hauler. Tires... at $1300 a set (last figure I knew) and you need minimum 6-7 sets (2+ for practice, one to qual on, one to start the race on, leaves u w/ 3 for the race??? That's what Busch cars get & they run 1/2 the distaance as cup) - $7,800-$9,100 just in tires & you haven't even moved the car yet! Crew, cost to get them to the track/pay them. Hotel rooms, pretty much every place w/in 50-60 miles is sky-high & 3-4 day minimum x6-8 guys minimum. Pay the driver, these guys don't come cheap, remember?? Entry fee, hard cards for the crew which must be $1200-1300 bucks for the season. 6 yrs ago I stopped getting a Busch paper crew license when it went to $450/yr, so do the math adding moving up to cup (more money for that) and adding 6 yrs plus hard card. Nascar upped the amount $25 or more every yr. We haven;t even talked about an engine lease! Cup motor $50k per race. How long you gonna run this out of your pocket to try and run a full race plan ????123
