Champ Car has races on at 7:00 in the morning from Holland on ESPN Classic, no less. I am sure that there are quite a few Americans glued to their sets at that hour of the day on a Sunday. Not. Their business plan in my opinion is messed up. There already is an extremely popular world wide open wheel series ... and that is called Formula 1. And with the exception of this country, it is the most watched motor racing series on the planet.
Unfortunately the IRL now has more recognizable drivers than what Champ Car has and in case anyone hasn't noticed, the IRL has now turned into a clone of what CART once was.. they race on ovals, street courses and natural terrain road courses. I keep hoping that the two series will merge. Mario Andretti has tried many times to get the two ownership groups together but to no avail. It would be awesome to see 35 or 36 car fields in an open wheel race.
