Posted by Needmo on 10/15/2007, 8:50 am, in reply to "Re: Attendance..." I paid half face for my ticket from a scalper. Wonder what he paid? I have a theory about (actually several) why this is happening. First, nobody races anymore. The guy in 5th doesn't want to try to pass the guy in forth, the guy in 6th doesn't want to try to pass the guy in 5th, and so on. Finishing 5th is a good day. Think this has changed greatly since the death of Big E. OK, adding Montoya to the mix has made things a little interesting, for a short period of time. Do we really want to see drivers like Jacques Villeneuve, Patrick Carpentier, Dario Franchitti? Was reading someplace that this year might be the first year a driver born in North Carolina has not won a race. Nascar needs little E to step up performance. I think you might see him step up some in 08, but I don't think going to Hendrick is going to put him in the elite class. COT.... 80% great idea, 20% horribly flawed. Different manufacturers need to have different bodys. Different drag numbers, different downforce numbers is what makes the cars go around different parts of the tracks differently. Toyota. Oh boy, I've owned Toyotas, and they are a great product. Do they belong in Nascar? I've got mixed feeling about that. Trucks yes...but cup, I'm still not sure. Which brings me to Tony Stewart. Everybody has seen the ton of orange stuff at the races, and he'll still have fans, but how are the fans going to view it if he wins (0r any other Toyota driver) the 50th running of the Daytona 500 in a Toyota? Oh my, sorry about the long rant. Needmo

Much the same at the Pepsi 400 at Daytona in July. The backstretch was fairly empty, and thats letting the people who had Busch tickets move into the backstretch to watch the cup race for free.
