Who is who

I'd like to give a non scientific argument for this who we (Bulgarians) are.
My daughter is 13 years old. She has never studied Macedonian language.
Could somebody explain to me how is possible for her to understand when people speak Macedonian? This is partially valid for Serbo-Chroatian language also.
Please do not tell me that this is ONLY because we simply have a common boundary.
We (Bulgarians) feel people from Macedonia like brothers and it is always painful to here that we are dirty Mongols.
Id like to believe that one day all people on the Balkans will realize that History can not be more important than the FUTURE of our children.
