Peruvian Paso needs help

I have a 25 yo Peruvian Paso mare that I can no longer afford to feed. I have over the years tried to sell and or give her away and there are no takers. I would put her down, but I cannot afford to do that at this point. Very expensive. I am aware of Horse Plus humane and I would be glad to surrender her there but I have no way of getting her there. Is there someone that can help? I am in vacaville

Also try contactin local humane society and/or vets; many will help or offer suggestions.

I am in Vacaville and no local vet or the local humane society will help. As a matter of fact there isn't anyone local that is under $500.00 for euth. and the humane society would charge me $800.00. If I starved her for a month they would pick her up and charge me for neglect. My mare has been well cared for, but I cannot keep it up and I am trying to do the right thing by her.

Horse plus of oroville picks up for less than $150. give them a call

I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. Can you tell us a little more about her? Does she NEED to be put down, or are you just thinking this is your only option? Does she need special care? Senior feed, etc? Can she still be ridden?

they will be delivering a rescue horse out to me this week in vacaville , maybe they can discount your pick up fee.

That would be fantastic, and good for them as well. I will call them today. She is really arthritic and not sound. Her best option is to sleep.

As soon as possible. I have about 3-4 days hay left. I have no resources to provide more at this point.

I can pay for either transportation or the surrender fee, but not both. I have the 150.00 for horse plus, but I was unable to come up with any more.

I want to thank you all for your help. Duchess will be picked up next weekend. When I get back on my feet I will return the assistance I have recieved. I am very grateful to you all.
