I'm trying to reach JD Acres...I spoke with this woman yesterday who just fell apart. I guess people had called and ripped her a new one about listing him for free. She is desperate - she's been forced between a rock and a hard place and is being bullied by a tenant. She's 19 weeks pregnant with triplets. She doesn't want to let him go - said he's made all the difference in the world for school with her 10 year old son but has no choice. I called JD Acres yesterday and left a message, and she said she heard from them yesterday and that they can take him but he needs a ride there or pay for transport. She doesn't even have the money for her car payment or rent because her subtenant won't pay her. She said she'll hold him for a day or two if JD confirms they can take him and we can help get him there. I don't have a trailer. I will confirm w/ JD Acres....can anyone help with transport if they do have room? Or is anyone willing to pitch in to pay their hauler? I'll find out the costs... from the owner: I am being overwhelmed by calls and inquiries. He was our first horse and wonderful with our kids. He is still available but will go soon and I cannot hold him for anyone. Until two months ago he was onsite where I live, but in a stall. He is now still onsite, but in pasture. There has been accusations that while in pasture, he injured three horses. No one saw this. I cannot tell you if it is true or not. If it is true, then he may not be right for pasture. In the year that we have owned him we have never had any issues of spooking, kicking, biting, nor bucking. He had an eye infection several months ago. With medication and frequent eye washing, it healed quickly. He flares his head when putting on his bridle when you touch his right ear. As I had no previous experience with horses before owning him, I can tell you that it was not an obstacle for me. He has worn part of his mane from putting his head through the stall. My nine year old son, also inexperienced with horses, was able to quickly learn to lead, bridle, place bit, groom, and handle him with ease. I once participated in his shoeing, and was surprised that he went up several times. As I had no previous experience in such a situation, I endured the experience with the supervision and guidance of the experienced bystanders and Ferrier. It was fine. In general, owners do not hold their own horses for the Ferrier. I did it for the handling experience. Other than that, I am not aware of any other issues. I have been completely honest in my description of Ravi, as I want him to go to a good home, with people that understand exactly what they are getting, both good and not. We are very sad to see him go and determined to find him a good home. Please read my ad very carefully, and if you are still interested let me know. 300+ miles later for us and Ravi is munching hay in Elverta. It's a long, sad, frustrating story and I feel so badly for this little family. Ravi is much-loved and his owner is broken-hearted. She is dealing with a lot of unfairness in her life dealt out by unethical and unscrupulous people, in addition to being pregnant with triplets. Somehow in all the insanity, she is clear-headed, well-spoken, and appreciative of any help. Please find it in yourself to hold a good thought for this family. I also hope those who can will donate to JD Acres to help with Ravi's expenses. kathy & mike
