I'm in Rio Linda, CA. Right now I have her on high doses of Glucosamine HCL, Chondroitin Sulfate, HA, & an herb called Boswellia. Since I'm cheap & a bit fanatical about dosage & purity, I buy human grade supplements in bulk & mix them myself in a blender along with water, flaxseed & oil that I pour over her senior feed, but without the hassle of becoming an amateur chemist, there is a product called Actiflex 4000, that when given at twice the maintenance dose, has the same levels of joint ingredients that I give my horses at a cost of a little over $1 per day, or any product with at least 10 grams of glucosamine and 100 mg high molecular weight HA should suffice. In the winter, I give her a gram of bute a day as her joints get stiff in the cold weather, but I took her off it as she is pastured with a couple of youngsters that exchange feed pans. That's it, no special shoes, joint injections or anything else. She has arthritis in her hocks and left, front pastern (which has been fused so she has no lameness on it.)
