I rescued a loving tiger-striped cat from my office parking lot in Oakland a few weeks ago. He was different from the other parking lot cats, as he always ran up to people, rubbing and purring... clearly not a feral.
He was doing great for about a month, then crashed over the course of a few days.
Turns out he's diabetic and needs to be on insulin and special diet food. No big deal, but we have other cats and dogs with food out all day and he can't eat it. So he's confined to one bedroom and NOT happy!
He is a very loving guy... cuddles up and purrs, but he's also very active and playful. In a single cat home he would be great. The vet and I guess his age to be only about 1-2 years.
Right now he's not fixed, but that's easy to get taken care of at Contra Costa Animal Shelter... I"ll cover the cost of the neutering.
He's in Clayton (near Concord). If anyone needs a sweet indoor kitty, let me know!
