As an avid collector of auto racing collectibles and such, I feel the market itself does a better job of determining the value of anything much better than any appraiser. My collection contain over 100,000 pieces including a couple dozen helmets. Without actually seeing the helmet and knowing who all signed the helmet, I would consider an offer of $250 to $300 to be fair. It could bring maybe twice that at the right auction. eBay is another option, that is the standard I use many times.
