The handle is 55 mm tall and the loft is 57 mm. Sr. Gomes resurrected the Excelsior name that his father used over 50 years ago for this top of the line brush. The badger hair is a special high grade Silvertip that is exceptionally soft and has a strong backbone. This brush will only be sold on five reputable forums: R&B, SMF, SRP, B&B and the Shave Den. This will be a limited edition Brush so only 28 will be available (Bruno and I are keeping the first two!). Now that the process has been proven, we are taking orders. The brushes are priced at $130.00 USD shipped worldwide. I will handle shipping to the Americas and Bruno will handle shipping to Europe. Shipments to the rest of the world will be handled as makes best sense. We are asking for a $65.00 deposit with the balance of $65.00 due at the time of shipment. Please email me with your interest. Happy Holidays, Bruno and Richard!
P. S. Several members have asked about the purpose of the metal ring/cap at the top of the handle. Master craftsman Sr. Gomes told us that the ring/cap is made of aluminum that has a special treatment that holds the knot securely in the handle. It's water and heat resistant. Please note that all Semogue brushes have this ring/cap. Semogue has been doing this for more than half a century now. According to the master craftsman, he's the only maker in Europe, as far as he knows, who still produces brushes with this kind of ring/cap. It prevents the loss and deterioration of the badger hair and stabilizes the knot hole in the handle, keeping it from collapsing.
Sr. Gomes made the two prototype brushes and has agreed to make all 28 brushes for this limited edition. Sixteen brushes have already been spoken for leaving only a dozen brushes available for sale.
