I just bought this cream from Luckyscent.com. I've shaved with it exactly once.
It's an extremely well-made shaving cream. Rich, thick, cushiony, lubricating ... all the adjectives you want to hear. My problem, or to be more exact, my WIFE'S problem, is the scent. She hates it.
No, wait ... "hate" is too mild. She had a violent reaction to this stuff. To give you some idea of what happened, I was shaving in a bathroom close to but outside of our bedroom. Both the bathroom door and the bedroom door were closed; she was in bed sleeping (or so I thought).
Apparently, she could smell this cream IN BED, WITH THE COVERS OVER HER HEAD AND HER FACE IN THE PILLOW. (My lovely & talented wife does in fact have an extremely sensitive schnoz.) The only sc scent of mine that she somewhat approves of is rose; she hates everything else but tolerates my sandalwood, lavender, etc. creams. But this stuff? Forget about it: "You can't EVER shave with that stuff again! It is VILE! You need to GET IT OUT OF HERE!"
No, I'm not exaggerating.
The kicker is, I think it smells really good! It's the SC version of the cologne of the same name. Here are the notes from Luckyscent:
With their signature fragrance, Domenico Caraceni show us how the phrase 'impeccably tailored' can be applied to perfume. The composition, which makes us think of the classic chypres, is as discreetly elegant as it is full of character. Far it be from us to imply that Caraceni’s eponymous scent is all about tradition. The classically structured composition has a distinctly modern, even edgy feel, largely because of the presence of frankincense. The note, apparent from start to finish, combines beautifully with the citrus top notes, creating an effect that is husky-sweet, almost smoky. In the heart of the fragrance, it enriches geranium, rose and tobacco, adding an earthy, spicy undertone to the sultry mix. The piquancy is further emphasized by the cypress note, with its gloriously mentholated, almost pine-like aroma. The base notes of Domenico Caraceni are the mossy-ambery delight and will make chypre-lovers very happy indeed. Although originally meant for men, Domenico Caraceni would be as wonderful on a woman as – you guessed it! - an impeccably tailored suit.
Domenico Caraceni 1913 notes
Petit grain, styrax, geranium bourbon, neroli bigarade, rose, tobacco, cypress, frankincense.
Anyway. In the interests of domestic er, bliss, I need to sell this tub asap.
I paid $50 + shipping for it which is a lot, I'll admit. But. The tub is 8.5 oz! It's HUGE -- and you only need a little cream at a time -- it's an outstanding latherer. This 1 tub should last a LONG time.
Therefore, I'd like to get $45 for the tub. Shipping will be extra but whatever it costs me I'll just pass thru to you. Depending on where you live, I'll get back to you with a shipping cost.
Thanks very much!
Evan
