Some of you will remember Morrie from Pennsylvania, though he hasn't posted for awhile. I've been in touch with him and I finally asked him today if I could post an update here.
Morrie has been battling esophageal cancer for the last year. It had already spread into the lymph nodes before he was diagnosed. He has had a couple rounds of chemotherapy and that slowed things down, but he was informed after the last round that chemo can arrest the cancer but not eliminate it. So far, no further treatment has been recommended.
Morrie has been going to other hospitals to see if they see other treatment options and he has been pursuing natural health solutions in the absence of offerings from traditional medicine.
Just recently, Morrie has experienced increasing difficulty swallowing, so he will be going in for more tests on June 19. So far, no one has recommended surgery, which is pretty extreme for this kind of cancer, possibly because the lymph nodes are already involved, too.
As some of you will remember, Morrie and his partner Peggy run a wild life rehabilitation and education center. The great news for them is that they were just able, with the help of a major sponsor, to acquire a property across the road from them. This will allow them significant expansion and it will enable them to separate visitor facilities from their home and from animals that would benefit from more isolation.
You can check their website for more about the wonderful work that Morrie and Peggy do for disadvantaged wildlife:

Morrie hasn't been on the computer much lately, at least in part because it is baby animal season and they have been incredibly busy. For this reason, we have been communicating by phone. If any of you who remember Morrie would like to call him on the phone, send me an e-mail and I'll give you his phone number.
(The phone number is also on the website. Scroll down a little to find a box on the left side with an owl, a banner that says "The Wild Life,"and "Download the Latest Newsletter." It is there on the right in tiny print.)
Morrie sends his warmest regards to everyone here -
Morrie's phone number can be found at the top of their webpage, just below the banner, on the left where it says "RCWS Emergency Hotline." That is the number for personal calls also.
That't terrible news; Morrie had recently joined our sister Facebook site but I see now his profile is gone. I have a very close friend whose close friend is battling the same at Fox Chase in the Philadelphia area. I'll say a prayer for our friend Morrie.
I am so sorry to hear this. Ours prayers are with them. Cancer sucks.

I'm very saddened by this news. He strikes me as such a fine and caring man. I wish him and his family strength in their fight. Positive thoughts sent his way.
Morrie, in case you are reading this, you are in my thoughts and prayers. May all the good things you have done in life be returned manyfold, now when you need them most.
