Not completely for me; Once I acquired my acquisition disorder, I learned from the Tabac bowl, with the spacer lid that lets air out. I like it better bone dry than surface of the moon. No gasket on the English bowls or the ceramic fat pot, either. When you keep your soap in something you can seal it with and make it air tight, stuff happens to it! Woolfat, for example; will separate, crack, and transform somewhat if put away wet into an air tight seal.

I leave mine lidless except for Cella because it is a soft soap. Giovanni recommended that the Cella lid be kept tight.

If the soap has a lid, I keep the lid off until the soap dries and then put the lid on. --Previous Message-- : Hi guys, just wondering how you all deal with : the lid of a shave soap just after use. Hi John - I keep my soaps in Anchor Hocking or Pyrex one-cup glass bowls with the sealing soft-plastic lids. I typically grate the soap up and compress it into the bowl. I probaby seal them 30 - 40 minutes after I load the brush. I had a feeling this might be the consensus, but you never know, so it's always good to ask. I've been keeping the lids off for at least a couple of hours before putting the lid back on, except for creams like Tryphon creams and Taylor for instance, the ones in a tub. I did not know to treat the Cella in a similar fashion to a cream, but I'll do that - thanks Andy. My biggest fear was getting mold growing on the hard soap or something, but I didn't want to go through an unnecessary step either.
