A 100% Italian shave for me, the first one ever in my entire life! Russ sent me (as a GIFT) a brand new Jagger R89 open comb razor (made in Italy, of course) and 2 packs of Bolzano blades because I talked about my inability for an all Italian shave. Every once in a while something happens and your confidence in human nature is restored; Thank you Russ, very much. So, thanks to Russ, today's SOTD, ALL OUT ITALIAN: Proraso Pre/Post (just 'cause it's Italian) Muhle/Jagger R89 Italian made razor Bolzano Super Inox Cella (first pass) Omega stripey (63171) with Cella Valobra almond (pass 2 + 3) Omega 80280 (boar with valobra) Tabiano AS gel Italian Floid Proraso Styptic gel (it's like crazy glue but you can wash it off) I should have asked the wife to make an espresso for me! We have this Bialetti Brikka, it's wonderful. The open comb is seen by many as a fairly aggressive razor, and it is. You have to watch out for it; knowing this and that I would be doing an elaborate non-weekend all Italian shave, I got up at 6am! I studied the angle of the blade carefully, since how it lays on the guard is different from a Tech, New, or Old Style comb. I thought I figured it out, because if you don't you'll burn the crap out of your skin, scraping it with a bad angle. This is why the Micromatic is unfairly despised. Anyway, I got an absolutely fantastic shave though I nicked myself pretty badly once on the first pass. I like to call it a "man's nick" whereas others might call it a "bad cut". It's that stupid scar on the chin area, the story behind which I will tell to my son when he is old enough, in the "do as I say and not as I did" vein. And why did I cut myself there? Because I was being too careful in the area with a new razor. Pull it tight and run the razor over it straight across, don't be finicky with scars! Have a great weekend, men! And thanks again, Russ!
