Fantastic shave and I now know how I like Osage applied: mixed with lotion. Kills the burn for me, which is very unpleasant, and keeps the tingle lasting forever & ever - as though water's constantly being reapplied. I put some on my face, post shave, then did the rest of my body with this killer cocktail. In fact, nearly every cream I've ever tried has irritated my skin - either mildly or quite dramatically. Even Speick will sting a little. Seems the only cream that never irritates my skin is Proraso. On the other hand, soap rarely irritates my skin. I tried the Tracer back in the 90s; it's the one whose head flexes inwards; this seems like a great design and I don't know why they abandoned it. I seem to recall a rubberized head as well? Somewhat grippy; like it stretched the skin slightly taut? Tuesday AM Had to rush out of the house, spent too much time doing other things and did not shave! So, I shaved at the office. I have a kit at the office, it's been there for a few years; it was chosen at the time as second rate equipment, such that I would not miss it at home. In retrospect this was not a good idea, I have so much stuff after all. I chose the stuff also based on ease of office shave, which of course meant a shave stick. So, the kit consists of: > Tweezerman $15 badger I don't mind how prickly it is; if you don't mind that, then this brush is wonderful. Much more backbone than any soft badger, and it holds a lot of water so the office face lathering is not a mess, as it can be with boar; I'll take off the dress shirt but not the undershirt, and I don't want to make a mess on the floor. > Honeybee Spa shave stick, Clean for Men I'm happy I brought this here, it has grown on me a lot. Shea butter and a nice clean scent. > 1958 Superspeed Because I have a few of these so why not. Originally I had the cheap Treet / Wilkinson plastic black handled Delrin razor, which I did not like. > Gillette Platinum Plus I don't really care much about these blades and I don't need to buy 10,000 of them. By that I mean they are great blades, but for me, sadly, I can get a great shave with most any blade. I say sadly because I would enjoy the adventure of the blade hunt, and I did for a while, but it's not there for me. If it doesn't tug then I can make do and get a close shave; the only think that I really notice is that carbon is a lot smoother than stainless. I'm out of the Swedes in the office now, and I think that the office is a great place for the Black Beauties that I have hundreds of; 1 shave and toss it. > Coral Skin food I originally brought it because of the small bottle; it's my favorite scent of all the skin foods and in the office I like its 'sealer' properties, so there it is. When it runs out I'll probably bring the Limes; I don't like the Trumper skin food normally but it seems to have a place here. I think that a tube of Aloe Vera gelly would do just as fine. Murray, I have resisted any urge to revert from anything but a DE since starting with them, albeit it has only been a few months since I made the switch. I did used to get good shaves from them, but I seem to have blocked out what exactly it was I used (or my CRS is kicking in again.) This morning: Astra blade, day 2 Gillette Slim Adjustable, kicked up to 4 Muhle bowl Wee Scot brush My Time Bath and Body Menthol 10/10 The Body Shop Kistna a/s balm Caswell-Massey Number Six cologne My technique has gotten good enough to move the setting up to 4 without causing damage. The MTBB menthol was nice and cold. Just wish it smelled like something other than Aveeno. Had gotten a sample of this Body Shop a/s balm when I went into a Body Shop store the first time I was looking for Bath & Body Works and figured I'd give it a try before I chucked it. It's not bad.
