The Tracer was my daily razor for a time too. I liked the way the blade flexed, especially along the right jaw line, a problem area for me. They were also on sale often for a good price. Still have a couple of Tracer handles, but the cartridge prices have escalated to the outrageous level, like the Gillettes. In another retro vein, yesterday's shave: Prep: 22 minute soak in swimming pool during workout. Schick Krona, later version w. plastic TTO knob. Dorco ST-301, 1st shave. Old Spice sensitive in the can. Thayers Lemon Body Shop Razor Relief First time using a Krona w. plastic knob. Head design is from thinner stock, and the razor is lighter than the original version. There seemed to be some uneven blade exposure from side to side, but with a Dorco 301, the setup is so mild I didn't notice any problems while shaving. Just a two pass shave, but close enough to get me through the day. The Dorco 301 was the first blade I made a stash of last year. Used mostly Old Spice in the can back then too. Good for a quickie shave. --Previous Message-- : Hi Zach - The handle is rubbery and grippy, : though it is very lightweight. The : cartridge head does flex as you describe. : : I must have gotten mine some time in the : late 1980s. I remember it being pretty : smooth, so I'm inclined to believe that my : problem this time was an old cartridge. : : - Murray : : : --Previous Message-- : I tried the Tracer back in the 90s; it's the : one whose head flexes inwards; this seems : like a great design and I don't know why : they abandoned it. I seem to recall a : rubberized head as well? Somewhat grippy; : like it stretched the skin slightly taut? I : think I liked it, I know it was short lived, : they went right to the 3 head design soon : after. : : --Previous Message-- : Tuesday Night: : : Schick Tracer razor : Schick Tracer cartridge : : Vulfix 18 boar brush : Cella soft shaving soap : : Thayer's Peach Witch Hazel (Astringent: 10% : alcohol, no -parabens, no burn) : : : This was once my go-to razor, but I didn't : get a very good shave tonight. It was : rough, there was a lot of tugging, and the : result was mediocre. The problem may well : have been the cartridge, which had only one : shave on it, but that shave was over a year : ago. I may try it again some time with a : new cartridge, but it probably won't be any : time soon. : : - Murray : : : : :
