Shower:
Caswell-Massey Number 6 soap
Suave Citrus Smoothie shampoo & conditioner

Merkur Futur (polished chrome on 1.5)
Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge (yellow) day 1
Rooney Emillion brush
My Time Bath and Body Orange EO shave cream (from sample)
Alum block
Lucky Tiger After Shave & Face Tonic
and Gurlain Vetiver to top it off with a little green

First time with the Futur. This thing is a weapon. No missed spots, no irritation or razor burn but one good nick on the chin. Enough that the styptic pencil came out today.

The My Time Bath and Body cream was also new to me and no negatives to it at all. A very thick cream that lathered nicely and worked well.

This Lucky Tiger was also new to me. I'll try it again but on first take it was kind of a yawner. OTOH, no burn whatsoever if that's what you like.

The Futur...

was my first DE razor. I used it for about two years exclusively with only Merkur blades, often with canned goop in the shower. It was still light years ahead of the Mach III. I should go back and try it again now that I have learned about proper prep, technique, etc. It really is a beautiful razor.

They do benefit from some silicone grease applied to the adjuster threads. There are disassembly instructions on Shave My Face. I bought the grease from Giovanni, but maybe the Shoe Box will carry it at some time in the future. Enjoy your new Futur!

Thanks Russ! I already notched it down from 1.5 to 1 for tomorrow and I'll work my way up once my technique is refined a little. As I wrote, no razor burn, but I am *not* accustomed to nicking myself.

This thing seems to have the potential to do real damage, but I don't see the big deal about how blades are changed (once I figured out how to open the thing, nor do I envision changing settings in mid-shave so that complaint doesn't bother me.

I loved my FUTUR except for the head size which I just couldn't use for close-in delicate "nasal filtrum" work. So I sold it off and reverted to trusty HD.

The FUTUR is a superb design ('cept the big head & my small perfectly formed movie star-like nose),
the balance at the "collar" point is perfect and
I for one loved the pop-off cap. Got great shaves
and never got past 1.5 on the adjustor.

Since 99.9% of guys don't have a movie-star schnoozola like me, the FUTUR could be a great razor for you.

This setup worked well yesterday, and it worked equally well today. The Shavex bar has really been a nice addition to the shave. It leaves my face feeling refreshed.

A decent shave this morning. the newer Chinese Schick blades are certainly smooth, but I can't seem to get as close with them as I can with the German and American made Shicks.

I picked up the Brut at a grocery store for half price, three bucks, I think. I hadn't used it since college, brings back memories. I still like it.
