Hello Bob, If the GEM blades at your local store are in a silver package, they should be the stainless blades. The only other GEM-branded blades I have seen are in a blue package and are called the Blue Star blades. The Blue Stars are carbon steel. The carbon blades do get some surface discoloration pretty quickly, especially when used with shave creams. This does not seem to effect the shave quality. I do not leave the blade in the razor after the shave. I rinse the blade, pat it dry, and put it in the razor drawer so it will be out of the way of our parrots. They love shiny things. Hope that helps. Russ --Previous Message-- : I just bought an old GEM junior razor and am : eager to try it out. I've found the regular : GEM blades at a local store, but I don't : think they are stainless steel. Anyone know : how prone these are to rust? I don't want : to get them if they are going to be a pain : to maintain. Thanks! : -Bob :
