The thing you got to understand about this product is that its essentially a strop. It uses the same age old technology that the strop did. The troubble is that if you have ever learned how to strop a straight razor you learn that there is a simple pattern that you use to sharpen the blade. Sort of a back and forth motion along the leather of the strop. The product that you mentioned, I belive, does so by sort of slaping the cartridge blades which is exactly what you don't want to do. This is the wrong way to accomplish this task. I have never purchased the darn thing nor wood I but I msut agree with the other post in this thread that when you wet shave its not really necessary.
--Previous Message-- : Hey all! : I went to my local CVS, and I saw this : product for sale. It claims to be able to : sharpen virtually any razor up to 200x : without buying a new blade. I noticed : Classic Shaving also sells this product... : I have several questions: : Have any of you bought this thing and would : recommend it? : Would it sharpen DE blades? What about : injectors? : (I am assuming no to the DE, and yes to the : injectors) : Does it live up to its claim? : P.S. I have to admit that this product does : sound appealing, provided that it works. I : am one of those people who made the switch : to DE because it was cheaper (although the : other benefits were realized later) :
