    Re: Electric Foil Shavers

I have both types, an expensive foil type which is a Braun 360 Complete #8995, (given to me as a gift). This machine costs over $150.00, I am sure and has a cleaning system which I find unique. The other, a rotary Norelco, can't recall which model, was the one I liked better. I purchased this one so it was definitely under $100.00. When both types are new they seem to shave (me) almost equal, with the rotary having a slight edge. This slight edge is gained by the rotary heads having a section with wider slots. The coarser whiskers seem to enter those slots with ease and get cut. The Remington gave a little closer shave, but left stragglers, which were those course ones. I only used these razors when I was working and running late. The main advantage was that I could shave while driving to work. For me, nothing comes close to a wet shave!

: I have used electrics off and on for over 45
: years. Never could get a decent shave on my
: face. Always some stubble and nearly always
    : some irritation.
    :
: A couple years back when I was still using
: the Fusion I was shaving my head and managed
: to put a great big "notch" in the
: side of my head by not paying attention to
: what I was doing with that darn razor.
    :
: As a result I gave an electric a try. And
: to my surprise it did a great job on my bald
: head. BBS you would call it or darn near to
    : BBS.
    :
: Still use it now when I am in a real big
: hurry or have nicked my head and need to let
: it heal a bit before going back to my DE or
    : SE razor.
    :
: But for the face, they are a waste of money
: in my opinion. If I did not already have
: one I would not go out and buy one just to
: shave my head for a few days while my
    : mistakes heal themselves.

: Personaly I started with electric foil
    : shavers
: when I hit 13 and stuck with them until I
: hit thirty and I never got a good shave out
: of them ever. Electrics are the worst
: products man ever invented. Foil shavers
: are still worse then the rottery types are.
: I sued Remington and braun and several other
: brands and let me tell you they are all
    : terrible.

: I'm experimenting with these shavers - hate
: the rotaries - as I've always found them to
: be good performers. And here's why:
    :
: They give me the closest shave without
    : ingrowns.
    :
: I really don't enjoy shaving with them
: because it takes forever and is a nuisance,
: but I get BBS eventually and never an
    : ingrown.
    :
: My question is this: Is there any
    : significant difference between expensive
: foil electrics and inexpensive ones - other
    : than flash?
    :
: I haven't tried an expensive one in ages,
: but the 10 dollar drugstore variety do a
    : capable job.
    :
: What do you guys know about this?
    :
: Secondly is it best to shave on dry, freshly
: cleansed skin, or slightly lubed skin?
