So I'll do it now in the middle of the say because you'll have to stop by the liquor store on the way home to pick up some Ouzo which is likely sorely missing from your cabinet.
I have a 1,000 recipe bartenders book and sometime I ask my wife 'can you make me something new?'
I'm very lucky to have her, she's old school. It makes her happy to fix me a drink; can you imagine that? AND, she was born in Queens, one of the 5 boroughs of NYC (like her mother before her) AND, here's the big one: she's NOT EVEN GREEK!
Also, she doesn't read these boards, so it's not like I'm kissing up to her or anything...
Anyway, a few weeks ago she makes me a 'Greek Doctor' because she wanted to make something Greek, so she looked in the Index under 'Greek'
You know what, I love this drink!
Ingredients
1 part ouzo
1 part vodka
1/2 part lemon juice
1 part orange juice
Directions
Shake all ingredients with ice.
Strain into an old-fashion glass filled with ice.
I use 2oz of vodka, ouzo, and OJ, and the juice of 1 lemon, whatever that is, it usually comes in under 1oz.
Also, the best cheap vodka for me is Svedka, from Sweden; it's killer, and it's under $20 for the huge 1.75 liter bottle.
There, I finally said it!
