I love Bay Rum and I've found that the cheap stuff smells the best.
Of the ones I've tried Master and Pinaud's are by far my favorite.
Lucky Tiger's is ok, while CO Bigelow and Royall's are terrible. Bigelow's is just a joke.
I've always wanted to try Superior 70 but haven't seen it!

: The rest of the stuff that I used this
: weekend so pales in comparison to the
: aftershave that it's not worth talking
: about.
:
: The other day (Saturday night) I was driving
: us home and we needed milk for the Sunday
: morning, and as both kids were asleep, I got
: off the highway and into a supermarket
: that's right there for easy off/back on.
: This is about 8 miles from home, in Queens,
: but since it's right off the highway and
: back on, it's faster than going to the local
: market.
: Since it's in a 'bad' neighborhood I usually
: lock up the car near the front door with the
: wife and kids inside and pop in there.
: Sometimes the wife pops in, as well; she has
: no fear either, since we both grew up in a
: 'bad' neighborhood we have no fear of it,
: just the built-in common sense than comes
: with knowing things that life has taught us.
: Actually, the wife has had a gun put to her
: back more times than I have (she was a
: bookkeeper in the supermarket we both worked
: and where we met in high school. I was
: actually shot at though, so, for me, we're
: even ;-)
: Anyway...
:
: So in the ethnic section I was actually
: looking for some more Alcolado Glacial and
: what did I see? Something I have never seen
: before!
: There is a company called Jamaican Choice
: that makes spices; jerk chicken rub, hot
: sauce, "pepper", and the like.
: And, apparently, they make a Bay Rum!
: It costs like $2, its got a plain label, and
: all I know are the ingredients, which are
: 47% alcohol, water, and bay leaf oil.
:
: I don't really like Bay Rum; my previous
: favorite was Superior 70; I liked that
: better than the Clubman, Ogallala, St.
: Johns, and Royall. It really works for me,
: though, and I use it from time to time,
: usually in the colder weather; the scent is
: somehow warming for me, at least, it warms
: my heart. Bay leaves are all over Greek
: cooking; my mother would use them all the
: time, and they now seem to remind me of her.
: So, perhaps I should say that as of
: recently, I DO like Bay Rum.
:
: Anyway, this is the most satisfying bay rum
: I have ever tried.
:
: Tim, if you're reading this, I'm sending you
: one, and I'd like you to tell us what you
: think; am I right here? I admit that I'm
: olfactorially challenged, unlike yourself.
: (And, Tim is a rum head)
