Right!
And we used to have such debates.
He's Armenian but born and raised in Lebanon, in an Armenian community; he came here as an adult and was very, very much more so connected to the old country than I was, since I was 2 when we arrived.
Still, I would taunt him with things like "You know, Mardig, I'm more Greek than you are Armenian"
to which he would respond "That's not possible"
And in my Greek way, I would point out that mathematically, being born in another country was a 24% concession to ethnicity that he could not make up for with Baba Ganoush.
This was almost like politics to him, we would argue all the time; I miss those days!
