81 750 yamaha virago hard to start cold

Hi.I have a 1981 yamaha virago 750 v twin.I starts and idles real easy always has but now that its getting cold i is nearly impossible to start on the first start of the day i have to roll start it then after that it starts easy for the rest of the day.It doesnt seem to mater weather i choke it or not.can sombody help.Thanks.
