i have an 82 maxim xj650 with 2 problems... sometimes the starter switch won't work but touching the solenoid might start her up. if tapping the solenoid doesn't work (it'll go wa na na na and try to turn over)i have to let her sit for about an hour and then she'll fire right up. problem two: sometimes my bike will abruptly die, either on rides over two hours or when i put the rpms above 6500. she just sputters and shuts off and wont start for an hour, going back to the problem above. I'm pretty sure i have to replace the solenoid, but would that solve the problem of the bike shutting down? any help would be greatly appreciated.
