2002 Honda Shadow American- Carburetor

Hey... So I've got a 2002 Honda Shadow American Edition and after I made some adjustments to the exhaust, I'm having problems adjusting the Carburetor. I'm either gettting too much fuel or too much air and I don't know how to adjust it... any suggestions? I took off the air filter and tried to play with the bolt, but I'm a novice and I really don't know what I'm doing... Any help would be MUCH APRECIATED!!!! Thanks!
