: I am having difficulty in restarting my 650, the tank started
: rusting (soon after new - i had the bike from new)& gradually
: starting & running deterioated, + flooding of carbs as a
: result. Eventually it stopped altogether. bike stood for 7 years,
: periodically turned/started engine with misfire & much popping
: through the exhausts. tank has been repaired & carbs were
: cleaned by a mechanic, upon stripping carbs noticed that he foam
: aircleaner had disintegrated and bits of it got sucked into the
: carbs, some components like the sliders were stuck solid as the
: foam mixed with petrol had turned the foam into a solid
: "plastic like substance". if the bike stands for a day
: it will fire on full choke for a fews secs & the plugs will be
: wet after trying to restart, it will then only fire (for a few
: secs)after drying out and pouring a small quantity of fuel into
: the plug holes. seem to be a good spark on all 4 plugs, i still
: need to check all electrical connections for corrosion and good
: contact (especially around the rectifier area) Is this a common
: problem with these bikes, it was never a good starter and tended
: to fire when one released the starter button after turnig the
: motor. Any advice & ideas on the problem will be wellcome.
the engine oil sight glass is dirty, cleaning did not help much, is there a solution to this problem?
:
: Thanks,
