1982 Maxim 400 Few questions

I just bought this bike. Puttin it together for the road. What makes a maxim a maxim? Now the real questions. fuel leaking thru outlet of left carb over a couple days. anything common like sticking needles? Can a leaking petcock cause this or are the floats in the carb able to resist the pressure? any useful places for parts on this bike on the net or in Canada, preferably hamilton, ontario area. thx for your time.
