My maxim was doing the same thing. It worked for me so check with others before you try!! I put in fresh oil and filter left about one qt shy. I grabbed some diesel and added about 1 1/2 cups to mix.. I unplugged the plug wires- and proceeded to crank the engine over for 10 second intervals.. I did this about 10-15 times - Then drained and refilled and new filter.. Worked fine after that.. I had a clog in my oil that wouldnt allow it to pump thru engine- Pressure had to go somewhere it came out breather box.. Good luck. Be sure and ask around- I just did this to try something.

: I just started my bike after letting it sit for about 2 months. As
: it was idleing it started leaking oil from the bottom of the
: airbox. When I looked inside the box I saw that there was about
: an inch of oil in there. I cleaned out the airbox and started the
: bike again and saw that oil is coming from the crankcase breather
: tube into the airbox. I asked a mechanic about it and he said to
: put about a teaspoon of oil into each cylinder and that should
: stop it. That did not make much sense to me but I tried it
: anyways to no avail.
:
: How can oil be traveling up the breather tube to the airbox.
: After noticing the problem I changed the oil and filter,
: intentionally leaving the oil level 1/2 quart low. Still flowing
: into the airbox.
:
: Can anyone help me?
