I would never suggest banding testicles either !!

I have never had any problem banding tails since 1980 except once. I had an oversized rottweiler puppy pop out of a show line and the banding didn't work so I had to have it cut,glued and sutured. That boy weighed out at 112 lbs at 10 months! WHEW! WAY oversized!
You can wait about 10/12 days to band and declaw the smaller rat terrier runt babies. I personally wouldn't chop a "strugglers" tail as feel it would be too stressing to the baby.
