Ben Granby, a US Citizen by birth, born to parents of both German and Jewish descent, is responsible for our historical motif. I would add that because "quisling" has been adopted in the English vernacular as a synonym for "traitor" that it was also a particularly fitting name for our band. So you see, the name "Quisling" worked for us on multiple levels. Of course, the content on our website is indeed a joke. It may also be sick. Ben no doubt intended it to incite such shock. I suppose if anyone wants to have a band, publicity or attention whether positive or negative has an absolute value that is worth something. Moreover, I suppose Ben wanted to address issues that he thought were even more disturbing than the jokes he made on our site. In any case, Ben would have to agree with you that V. Quisling the infamous Norwegian was indeed a bastard. He himself is quite politically active and usually finds himself alinged with "progressives" and "anarchists" or otherwise disagrees with the Status Quo here in the U.S. If you are doubtful or curious, I've linked below his personal journal of his recent travels to the Middle East. HI! I empathize with you, mate. If you only knew Ben Granby, and if you only knew that Quisling is a name shared by people in Madison, WI that were physicians and other respected community members... We needed a band name and I suggested "Quisling" because of a historic medical clinic and physician of the same name. Our bass player and I used to work at a business that provided a service for said clinic among many other clients, and I always liked the name.
