Um, no. Giving politicians carte blanche and "trusting them" to do the right thing is a one way street to disaster. They haven't listened to the public yet, (and if they would have we might be voting on a viable proposal), why the hell would they start listening after they've got cash in hand?
I think a lot of us wouldn't have any problem voting for a reasonable building: no frills, no theatre, no BS. If the state of the city's existing infrastructure is any indication we can't even afford that...
