90% of the inmates would be glad to get out of there cages for a day and put in some hard work for the freedom so to speak. It's all red tape, and whos going to pay the fat guards and transportation costs of getting the inmates onsite. Its all about the money or lack of. --Previous Message-- : Imagine how much cleaner our roads could be, : how much better our county could look with : all the free labor in the jail. Heck, maybe : even some of them prisoners know how to : blacktop roads, so we could have some decent : driving surfaces, instead of the crap : PennDOT gives to Schuylkill County. : : Pretty sad, High School students have to : perform X amount of hours of Community : Service to graduate, yet people who break : laws get to sit in a cell with all bills : paid by tax payers. : : --Previous Message-- : You are absolutely right Mr. Ferret! Make : these damn prisoners work! : : --Previous Message-- : Not sure how much the cleanup would cost, : but : it's one of them pass-the-buck type deals. : No one wants to spend the money. : : This is the kind of job where chain gangs : would be helpful. Too bad inmates have more : rights than us working stiffs who pay to : house, feed, and clothe them. : : --Previous Message-- : I don't know where Bogg's market is, but it : sounds much the same as the one on : Pottsville Street. : : But, really, how much would a clean up cost? : : All you need is a loader, a tri-axle and : dumping fees. : : Shame on Cressona. That place looks : terrible. If I were a home owner adjacent to : or in the vicinity of that property, I : wouldn't pay my taxes until a clean up was : done. Or, God forbid I were walking down : the street passed that place and got hurt : from a piece of debris....if Cressona thinks : it has budget troubles now, it would be in : for a whole world of hurt if I sued. : : Hmmmm....... : : --Previous Message-- : It was "George's Place" and it : burned. They knocked it down because of : safety reasons. The lady that owned it had : no insurance and the property was in : foreclosure. Now Cressona is stuck with the : tab of cleaning it up. But they have no : money in the budget to do it. And since it's : not precious Pottsville, the county wants no : part of the cleanup bill either. : : I can't believe nothing has been done, but : thats the way the system works, I guess. : Look at the house across from the former : Bogg's Market in Cressona, that burned years : ago, and is still a boarded up shell. : : : : --Previous Message-- : If you have driven on Pottsville Street in : Cressona (the road that leads to 61 from : Gordon Nagle Trail), I'm sure you have seen : that eyesore of a garbage heap? : : It believe its the remnants of the building : that housed "George's" or : "Bum's Place" or something like : that---the guy always had junk for sale, : thousands of ice skates, flower pots, etc. : : Anyway, I don't know if the placed burnt : down or got demo'd, but I saw that heap 6 : mos. ago when driving through and 6mos : later it is still there! Man, what a : disgrace. If I were a neighbor, you can bet : your ass I'd be at the next town meeting : demanding that the owners clean that up. It : is not only an eyesore, but a safety hazard, : too. : : What's wrong with these people? Just to : leave it a mess like that? What's wrong with : neighbors for not taking action? Do you : like having a sh*tpile outside your door : every day??? Even an animal will not dirty : its own nest, so to speak. : : Thoughts? Opinions? Feedback? : : : : : : : : : : : : :
