Posted by Linda on 11/1/2004, 12:36 am I am new here...just found this place... I read some of the posts and thought maybe someone here could tell me more about my own experiences. First as a small child (about 8), I used to play with the yatzee(sp)Dice with my not much older aunt (about 12-13). We would just otss the dice and try to guess the outcome of the roll. I remeber it being a big huge deal that I could all the dice on EVERY roll. We were just kids nd we laughed about it, and never really thought much about it...now as an adult, I think about that from time to time...and have tried with no success to call the dice again like that...lol I was always an animal freak as far as I can remember...when I was 9 we moved down the road into a house my great grandfather built (I grew up in the boonies). Across the way was a pasture with a wild white mare named queenie. I talked to the owner a couple times and they told me that she was a crazy wild mare that had never been broke. I grew to love her so much, we were like best friends. I couln't wait to see her everyday after school. One day I was sitting on some rolled hay bales out in her pasture..and she came up to me and I understood that she wanted me to be closer to her..not just closer, she wanted me right there on her. I slid down on her back and she walked all around the pasture slowly grazing as I pet her and talked to her. The ol man who owned her saw me riding her all the time after that day and one day Queenie was gone. I was heart broke and found that the ol man had given queenie to his nephew....I cried and cried and missed her so much, my only friend....and then one day I decided to go see her. I found out where she was...not too far from me and I went there...when I asked about queenie, I was told that they whipped her and put her out to pasture after she had hurt someone...she would not let the boy on her and then when they hired a trainer to break her, even he was hurt..she would not let anyone even near her...The people seemed angry with me and said NO, I could never see queenie again. Later after many months of missing queenie, I saw the ol man hauling a trailor...I jumped though the fences and ran across the field to his house to see what he had just brought home in that trailor.... We lived in a small town and rhumors were starting to get around and I could hear people talking under thier breath about me... (I am going to post again, before I make a mistake and loose what I have already typed)

Hi,
When I got there I saw that it was a huge yearly bull calf. I felt the fear and the pain and saw the blood running down his face in the trailor, his eyes were huge and wide and he was horrified. The ol man said that he and the men were going to turn him into a lot and take him down and halter him, I had never seen a bull with a halter on except in the local livestock shows here and there...and they had all been trained as calves, I'm sure...
They turned the calf loose and the ol man warned me not to get too near the fence...he said the animal was unpredictable and could, if spooked easily run right over the fence and me too. Him and the other guys he had working with him went in the house to get a drink and take a break....and left me out there looking at that new prize bull.
I sensed that he felt safe with me and that he wanted me near him...so I just didn't think twice...I jumped over the fence and went to him...I pet his sweet face and his feelings were so strong, they made me cry...I told him to be good so that he did'nt get hurt anymore...I felt his pain so strong...
Right about then, the ol man came out and he hollered at me.."Hey!!! Your gonna get killed in there, that is one crazy animal!!" I said, "no he's not, he's the sweetest thing...he'll wear the halter for you" The ol man acted funny and laughed and said something to his friends, they were all kind of standing back, because they were affraid to spook the bull with me in there with him. Then the ol man said..."well if he will wear it..do you want to put it on him?" I said sure...and I did...then I pet the bull and told him bye and I went back home.
