The fairest thing that could happen for that Fontana race that was "cancelled" is for the PSCA to split the purse among those racers who actually qualified in Fontana! That would be the only way to cease all the unhappiness and bickering!
First of all, I never understood how we could qualify in a 1/4 mile format, build a tree based on that format, and then later turn around and make elimination rounds follow the 1/8 mile format. But that's just me! Maybe I'm the only one out here who lacks understanding.
Secondly, I'm not going to be able to make the Vegas race anyway, due to a previously scheduled two week vacation that was paid for before the 2012 PSCA schedule came out! I'm not going to be privy to that money in the first place if it's going to be offered to any racer who shows up to Vegas, so I can care less what happens with it in that case! However, I do take major issue with my class, XDR/TT-5, being thrown into a Ford Fun race that's off schedule for points a week before our scheduled race! I'm ok with missing a race because of a scheduling conflict on my part, but having to miss two points races for the same scheduling conflict is crazy to me!
XDR 2, I guess?????

I know the race was cancelled and that is why the pay out is doubled. However, this allows for only one winner which may be a racer that did not qualify in Fontana. If the qualified racers from Fontana pair-up during qualifying for this race, they can finish what was started. For example, if all the racers from Fontana lose first round to someone who was not in Fontana, they lose everything.A single pay-out will be awarded to the winner and nobody gets the other half of the "double pay-out".If Fontana participants race each other during qualifying(and use those times for qualifying at this race)then a payout will go to a Fontana participant who has already paid and qualified...Seems a bit more fair to those people to me.It still sucks for other classes who have more cars,I understand, but it doesnt need to suck for everyone.

We put all the prize money up for those who attended Fontana, with the track being temporary shut down there's nothing more we can do at this point but move on...
LAS VEGAS -- The Pacific Street Car Association announced today the sanction’s Edelbrock’s World Finals that was rained out Nov. 6, 2011, has been officially canceled and will not be rescheduled. The event was planned to be run March 9-11 this year at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif., but was canceled due to the track being closed.
With the books now closed on the 2011 PSCA season, the points for last year’s classes will be made official in the coming days. The awards banquet for the 2011 season is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8, during that weekend’s race at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. More details regarding the banquet will be released in the coming weeks.
PSCA President Mel Roth was reluctant to cancel the event, but according to sanction rules, a rain out date must be made up at the track in which the cancelation occurred and with the unknown status of Auto Club Dragway, he made the decision to move on.
“We never want to have to make this kind of call,” Roth said. “We want to give our racers the opportunity to race as much as possible but we were running out of time to make up the Fontana race. Plus, we want to get our champions crowned. They earned that honor and deserve to be recognized.”
Racers who were registered for the World Finals last year still have an opportunity to profit from that race, however. “Any driver who was registered in Fontana last November, comes to the MagnaFuel Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip April 27-29, and finishes in the money will see their purse doubled,” Roth said. “Hopefully, it’s an additional incentive for the racers and lets them know we’re here to help them as much as we can.”
The next PSCA event, the MagnaFuel Las Vegas Nationals, is scheduled for April 27-29 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. For information on this and other LVMS events, visit LVMS.com or go to their official page on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheStripAtLVMS.

Well since you asked, i think the highest finishing cars in Vegas that were at the Fontana race should get paid, the way Mel has it worded is if no one from the Fontana race wins in Vegas he doesn't have to pay out the money.
And you're right venting is good!!!

Mel is offering up a good deal and you need to stop b###hing about this. He is making the best of a bad situation. I have a wedding to go to saturday night of the Vegas race in San Clemente CA. I was planning on missing this race but with the double purse available it is worth the gamble to race even though I have to catch a plain out of vegas at 3 in the afternoon on saturday and fly back at 7am on sunday. Mel you will never please everyone. I say keep it up because the real racers that are dedicated will show up if you make a fair deal for this bad situation. It is Vegas you have to gamble a little. See you at the track!

Not true for only win
If you finish in the money, you will have it doubled.
So if you normally get $200 for semis then you get $200+$200 (Fontana) = $400

The big issue is if we keep getting car counts this year like the 1st race this year there wont be a PSCA or message board here to vent. We need to find away to get out of town racer to these races so we can keep the psca going. If your like me then the psca is the best races to run. How long can Mel keep this going if hes losing money at each race

You are correct. Also now with the competition of two other organizations on the west coast, how long will Mel put up with the hassel.
It is a thankless job that he does. If you have ever run a racing organization, you will see what I mean.
We want more, the tracks want more and the Goverment wants it all.
You might see less classes run so there will be less purses to payout if sponsors change thier support.
Tough choices all around.
Thanks Mel, hang in there.
