By all means you can! Forrest Lucas is a perfect example! I am not saying all people, but I'm sure you know as well as I that it happens frequently. No one can ever take your character or your good name from you either. If you also look at people you have known over the years they either have a good name or they don't. There is no middle ground. You can have a good name without riches, but you are never truly wealthy without a good name. I'm sure what the Proverb is saying is, if you had to choose between them would you risk your name for riches.
