I don't personally know Roger and did not take exception to what he said. I don't think he owes anyone an apology. We all have choices in life and are able to express our opinions. I'm building what I want to build and I hope it will be competitive. In retrospect I would probably do it differently but that is the benefit of hindsight.
Ultimately I do see Roger's perspective about having to weigh 3400lbs (if I read the rules correctly) because it is harder on the car, parts, etc...
At the end of the day build what you can afford and do the best you can with it. I might want to take my own advice here but if you cannot afford to race at this level you might want to step down a notch or two so it does not become a full time job. I'm certainly contemplating my options right now before I get in too deep.

: Roger, I hope you think about what you just
: posted and apologize to everyone that cant
: afford to go with the best possible combo
: year after year. I'm glad to have the funds
: to do whatever you want, but look at the
: other combo's, they're pretty light
: especially nitrous and boosted small blocks
: where getting a car lighter sometimes is
: more expensive than the switching combos.
: There's gonna be a ton of cars running this
: class so add the weight and stop your
: whining and may the best car/driver win

: Ya, im not upset about me being heavier for
: this combo but its just to hard on parts and
: chassis. but i guess its easier to add
: weight to the top combo then making the
: others spend money on getting lighter or
: build something up to date. But atleast
: there somewhere to race if a person chooses
: to do so.

: Sounds nasty. Even with the weight I would
: say your combo should be the front runner.
: Good luck in the 1st half and hope we can
: start running some XDR races later in the
: year.

: big block 522 with twin 94's

: Should be out in the middle of the year. New
: car, new combo, big small block with
: blower..

: We are working on our new car and hope we
: can
: make some races towards the end of the
: season. I agree that it is not much fun when
: competition is limited in size.
:
: Roger, what is your exact combo? BBC turbo,
: twins or single? I did not get a chance to
: see your car at SCSN.

: Who plans on racing this season, will it be
: worth the travel expenses and time away from
: family and work. To be honest 5 or less cars
: is not fun so hopefully the rules cater to
: enough to bring out some new and old
: contenders. Me personnally dont agrre with
: the weights of my combo due to it being
: based off cars that run 4.40 at 3250 on
: radials on a perfect track amd air thats
: below sea level. Just my thoughts.
