What would be interesting is the whole new group of racers that would now be able to go red, thus giving the face away tothe faster car.
This is a aspect that today they do not worry about.

: Hey Crummy.
:
: Is it possible to have a split tree
: 500/400? Still have not had a definate
: answer. That would be the best fix...
:
: --Previous Message--
: Ron,
:
: Good question and there have been some good
: observations today.
:
: In reality, the .500 tree in Mean does not
: affect me at all, until we build our new car
: for Rick. But, if we are talking just 10.60
: cars, isn't the .400 the same for all racers
: in that category equally? They have about
: the same power and weight? So no advantage
: and why change it?
:
: What I do care about is messing with the
: index rules. I found that I love index
: racing because, as Hanko put it, you are
: side by side.
:
: I see the beef is Open Comp where you Choose
: to run against faster cars. I really wasn't
: an issue until the fast cars got involved
: the last two years. A change in some of the
: index rules will eventually lead to a change
: in Open Rules.
:
: It appears there is a fix BUT there is not
: enough money or time to add a class, so the
: combining of classes is spoken about.
:
: 9.60 doesn't want to run against 7.60/8.60
: 10.60 doesn't want to run against 9.60
: 11.60 doesn't want to run against 10.60
:
: So as you can see, the slower cars don't
: want to run against faster cars. This is
: the beauty of our current open structure,
: You Don't have to.
:
: In a perfect world you could.
: Run .500 tree in 10.60
: Run .400 tree in 9.60
: Run .400 tree in 8.60/7.60
:
: Run .500 in an open category
: Run .400 in an open category
:
: Problem is, this adds a purse and another
: class to the run schedule. Not what Mel
: needs right now.
:
: So we have two choices as I see it.
: 1. Change the tree in some classes and make
: then two index classes and split open into
: two classes
: 2. Change Mean and Musang to .500 and leave
: Open Comp at .400 tree.
: 2. Leave the system alone and wait until the
: sound issues are fixed and then the cars
: will return.
:
: So not calling anyone out. Calm post that
: seems to sum up what I have read the last
: three days. Mel will do what he needs to do
: and we will figure it out. I am prepared to
: support him either way as should we all.
:
: Mel, appreciate you keeping the show going
: in 2011 even though your fast cars could not
: compete at Fontana.
:
: Crummy

: With the muffler rule there will be cars not
: showing, however with some tweeking of the
: classes there definitely will be more cars
: running MUTIPLE classes. Doug, I don't
: know if I asked you this but why do you care
: if Mean Street goes to a .500 tree. More
: than half of the cars in Mean need to go
: deep and it would eliminate deep staging and
: I know Hanks racing skills pretty good and
: he would benefit from the .500 tree more
: than me, and you can't dispute that, I know.
: I've taught Hank many things about staging
: and it's importance in Drag racing, ask Him.
: He's a friend and I wouldn't steer him
: wrong.
:

: Hamko,
:
: You are correct, until the muffler rule
: changes, we will have lower car counts. For
: me, the Mufflers will stay on as I don't see
: a difference with the borla's.
:
: Merry xmas.

: RONNIE: JUST VOICING MY OPINION LIKE EVERY
: ONE
: ELSE. FOR YOUR INFORMATION I HAVE RACED .500
: TREE BEFORE AND MY LIGHTS ON A .500 TREE ARE
: BETTER THAN ON A .400 TREE . I JUST PREFER A
: .400 TREE AND HEADS UP . IF MUFFLER RULE
: DOESN'T CHANGE , WON'T BE AT TOO MANY
: FONTANA RACES . CAR AS IS WON'T RUN WITH
: MUFFLERS AND I AM NOT ABOUT TO SPEND TWO
: GRAND TO SWITCH EXHAUST SYSTEMS. ALTERNATIVE
: IS O/C AND S/M WITH A 10;80 DIAL IN.
:
: --Previous Message--
:
: Do you really think the muffler rule is
: going to change, come on Hank! And Who's
: going to pay the prize money for the extra
: class/classes. I didn't hear you step in
: and say you would sponsor one of them! It's
: not about YOU Hank and it's not about what
: YOU think is best. YOU need to think of the
: overall program and what can make the
: Association better across the board. Hank,
: you don't even understand the whole staging
: process. On the .500 tree you can go as
: shallow as possible, still cut killer lights
: and probably gain a tenth or so in ET. YOU
: will NOT go double 0's in Fontana with your
: car shallow staging, guaranteed.
: --Previous Message--
: Amen!!! My feelings also. If you want to
: increase car count , eliminate muffler rule
: at Fontana . That will bring back a few cars
: and create another new class-11:60/12:60
: with a .500 tree. If muffler rule stays in ,
: I probably won't run but one or two races at
: Fontana as mufflers absolutely kill my motor
: unless I go to the 11:60 class. PS How have
: been Brian?
:
: --Previous Message--
:
: Just to let those who dont know and to
: remind those who do know.......10.60 Index
: class came straight from the Nostalgic D/Gas
: class.
: It was racers who raced the D/Gas class that
: asked Mel to put the Index together.
: The whole idea is just simple, its heads up!
: Yes some of you want to argue its not but
: its the only type of Heads Up that isn't
: driven by the deepest pockets. It runs off a
: .400 Pro tree and thats was it. I have read
: this whole post and for the life of me I
: cant figure out why some want to make it a
: .500 tree???
: Whats wrong with the 10.60 Index Class??
: If there is nothing wrong with it why change
: it??
: Is there a problem with some of the other
: Index Classes? Not enough car count? Then
: maybe they dont need to run.
: I guess my thought is why fix some thing
: that isn't broke. The Gas Classes are the
: most highly supported classes in Nostalgic
: racing and as from what I have seen the same
: in PSCA.
: I guess we all have to remember you cant be
: all to everyone!
