PSCA Quick Street
Will I race Ronnie? Yes I will. I realize the ultimate goal here is to attract more racers which benefits everyone. I just don't know if this is the answer, or will it backfire because too many people are intimidated by the faster cars? I have had very good luck running against the 8.60 cars in Open Comp, but talking to some of the guys in the lanes, a lot of them are nervous or intimidated running against a faster car. It is supposed to be fun, not stressful right? Here is an Example: An excited new racer in his 12.60 car joins the new Triple Index class and is lucky enough to line up with one of the many seasoned pros with a 10.60 car in the first round every race. He loses in the first round every time and gets frustrated.(a bunch of you 10.60 guys are really good trust me) We all know that it is not cheap to race in the PSCA, especially multiple classes. After losing in the first round several times, he will probably quit and go back to the local series where he can race for $50 and he is confident that he may line up with a stock VW Beetle and still win $500.00 a few rounds later.
I know, sounds crazy. Maybe I am getting desperate here. I just hope that I can continue to race with my 9.60 guys, but more of them would be nice.

: Ken, They will be considered triple index
: classes but you know as well as me that
: there will be only a few (if any) 7.60 cars
: in the Super Index and only a few if any
: 12.60 cars in the triple index. But it
: definitely will make the classes bigger,
: make the win much more satisfying and
: probably the purses will grow in the future.
: If Mel decides to go with this plan you are
: going to continue to race aren't you. You
: are one of the many truly nice guys in the
: PSCA and I personally would hate to see you
: leave. It's all good, let's race and have
: some fun!

: Well Ronnie, I don't have the perfect
: answer. I just don't like the idea of
: combining 3 classes. If we absolutely had to
: combine classes, I think the Double and
: Super Index that we run at the
: Supernationals would make everyone happier
: than the proposed 3 indes classes combined.
: Maybe add a combined 11.60 and 12.60 class
: if there is enough participants. I think you
: 10.60 guys enjoxed beating up on us 9.60
: racers last month. Thanks for your input
: Ron, I know you were not bashing Quick.

: Ken, I know all the car counts are down, I
: really didn't mean to solely pick on Quick.
: But I would much rather combine and have
: many more cars and possibly have bigger
: purses than small car counts and no money.
: I also love racing heads up but I just don't
: see it continuing in that direction with the
: amount of cars showing up at the typical
: races. What do you suggest?
:

: Ronnie, I took a quick look at a few classes
: and their respective car counts over 7 races
: this year:
: Mean Street had approximately 94 entries.
: Quick Street had approximately 70 entries.
: Super Street had approximately 83 entries.
: Yes, Quick is less, but a minor change such
: as Bryan and Hank finishing the season as
: well as myself and a couple of guys running
: the entire season would bring Quick right up
: there with Mean Street. Or, (hypothetically
: speaking) lets say that 2 Mean Street racers
: decide to spend a mere $750.00 and add
: nitrous and go with Quick Street instead of
: Mean Street; In one quick swing of 2 racers,
: Quick would have more entries than Mean
: Street. There are a few other classes with
: less car counts than Quick had this year. We
: all know that we need to attract more
: racers, one way or the other. We just need
: to figure out how to do it.
:
: --Previous Message--
: Quick Street seems to be dying and there is
: NO
: way with the car counts usually being less
: than 10 cars that it can remain the same. I
: can only see 3 options from the PSCA side of
: things. Drop the class, No pay outs (Or
: minimal) or combine some classes. What do
: you recommend Mel does with Quick and not
: lose money?
:
: --Previous Message--
: First of all, I know that increased car
: counts
: would make it more fun as well as help the
: organization a whole bunch. On the other
: hand, even though some of us have an index,
: it is awesome to have what is the next best
: thing to a heads up drag race. I will never
: be able to afford to run a heads up class,
: but isn't it great to leave the starting
: line at the same time as your opponent? The
: proposed Super Index and Triple Index
: classes will end up making it like a typical
: Bracket Race. I joined the PSCA because it
: is much different and better than bracket
: racing. I run Quick and O/C now, but with
: the proposed classes, I think it will be
: like entering O/C twice. I agree with the
: proposed Pro Comp, Open Comp and MM, but not
: too thrilled about the 2 Index classes
: (other than an increased car count due to
: them all being combined). I am not sure if
: we will gather more racers overall due to
: any changes to the tree or combining the
: classes. I figure that the proposed Super
: Index class will have the exact car count
: that Quick and Super had before, only
: combined.
: --Previous Message--
: I had a long conservation with a longtime
: PSCA racer and he had some great ideas that
: would make it fair for all and an
: opportunity to attract more racers, possible
: bigger car counts (Then that would lead to
: bigger payouts) and more opportunity for
: racers to run 2 classes with a little bit
: more of a break between them (at least in
: the early rounds)!! Check this out and let
: me know if this can/will work.. It would
: also be the same amount of classes we have
: but have an opportunity to attract more cars
:
: Read them all before responding...
