Posted by Former Mayor Brad Hulsey on 8/4/2005, 6:46 am Gene was a very charismatic and brilliant man who loved Powder Springs dearly. He resided on Atlanta Street across from the Coach George E. Ford Center and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a friend to all, no matter their background or ethnicity. He was a mentor to this young mayor when I needed someone to listen and advise. If you are one to pray, I ask that you remember the Jackson family in your prayers at this time. His loss is a great loss, not only to his family, but all of Powder Springs. Thank you, Brad A. Hulsey
I just wanted to share with readers of the Post that former Powder Springs City Councilman and Mayor Richard Eugene "Gene" Jackson passed away Tuesday, 8/2/05. He was 78-years of age. He served as Mayor of Powder Springs from 1965-1966.
